Braille & Pharmaceutical Packaging Design.

Braille is the reading and writing system for the blind and partially sighted. It consists of arrangements of dots which make up alphabetical letters, numbers and punctuation marks.

Now with Pharmaceutical Packaging complying to the European Commission Guidelines enforced in October 2005, all Pharma Packaging must now express the use of "Braille Formatting".

The "Product Description" and "Strength" of the medicinal product should be visually clear for blind people. This applies to both scientific and invented Brand Names.

Due to the Reason that Braille differs from Country to Country, and in order to comply with the European legislation it's highly recommended to follow the Marburg Medium Specification and ECMA Euro Braille Standard.

All medicinal products approved after October 2005 must now follow these guidelines.

It is also recommended to amend your medicinal Medicinal Packaging authorized before this date.
